Did you miss me? I realized this evening that it’s been more than a month since the last “to be sorted later” edition! Whatever have you been reading in my absence? War & Peace? No? Is that just the Hamm family?
Reminder: I’m doing a slow read of W&P this year so it’s basically my obligation to mention it here at least once a month. I’m quite literally sorting through it, chapter by chapter, day by day. I’d been slogging through the war chapters as of late but now we’re back to some high-stakes marriage plots and even better, women talking again!
I like it, this daily commitment to a chapter, even if I have to reference the character list multiple times a week to remember who’s who.
Of course, I’m reading other books along the way — currently I’m on a tear through the final editions of Sue Grafton’s Alphabet series (I’m midway through W is for Wasted) and feeling a bit emotional about it all coming to an end. Kinsey Millhone forever!
What I’m Sorting Through, Currently …
Considering a New Series
Earlier this week I thought I was writing this “to be sorted later” post, but then I realized what I’d really done was written about 500 words strictly about one of my recent fixations, the writer Bette Howland, and that’s not exactly what I’m trying to do … here. Especially when I realized I had much more to say on the matter!
Next thing I knew I had a running list of all the new-to-me artists, writers and musicians I’ve been fascinated with as of late, and an idea was born: a “Discovering” series. I’m sharing it here to help me commit to this idea. This all goes back to my quest I was talking about back in November, and then again in January! Stay tuned. Looks like the first installment will be “Discovering Bette” — no need to let that draft go completely to waste.
What Now
Holy shit, Brittany Howard’s new album rules. I love it so much. Listen to it!
“I thought you wanted a surprise! It was a ninja surprise!”
Tonight I couldn’t decide what to watch, so I randomly put on “Fleabag” (naturally). The “ninja surprise” scene makes me laugh so fucking hard, as in doubled over, crying, abs hurting, laughing so hard. Earlier I laughed so loudly watching this scene that I scared both of my cats out of the room.
Hot Priest/“Fleabag” Season 2 occupies so much space in my brain that I always, always forget how absolutely hysterical Harry is in every scene!
“That was horrible.”
Enjoy!

to be sorted later #6
Greetings from Chicago, where the wind chills are -20 to -30 degrees. I’m writing this while under two blankets, cursing that I don’t own any fingerless gloves. Simone was briefly adding extra warmth by draping herself across my chest, purring loudly, but alas, my typing disturbed her too greatly to stay.
